Coping with disaster

Bushfires, floods, cyclones...Seems that Australia has pretty much copped everything in the past couple of months. Now with the latest disastrous events in Christchurch, New Zealand, it seemed timely to point out the following resources freely made available by the Australian Psychological Society for coping with disasters:

The Psychological Cost of Disasters

Flood resources

General disasters

International Disasters

Bushfire disasters

You region has been hit, that's for sure. And now the NZ earthquake makes things even worse. So happy to see you blogging. I come by often to visit and am always sad when there isn't a new post up. Hope you and your family are good, school and work are good and your health too.

And with the way climatologists are predicting, your links will be needed plenty. Glad to see you posting. Very sorry for all the destruction in your home country and your neighbor's.

Hi HP - I am so sorry you all are enduring all of that. How sad and frightening.

I'm sending thoughts and prayers your way and I hope you and your family are well.

It seems like so much negativity and so many bad things and unrest are going on all around the world.

There have always been disasters and political upheaval, war, disease, etc ...but I feel that it has increased exponentially and I don't know if it is because we have instant news via satellite and so hear about everything ...or if it is just much worse. I kind of think the latter, since we have satellites and instant communication for years now.

The change in the atmosphere in our country is palpable and discouraging ...and challenging to this once upon a time optimist.
