Living la vida Oprah
Like her or loathe her, Oprah is a very inspirational woman. She's overcome a lot of adversity to become an overwhelming success. Along the way, she's helped many others too.
I don't watch the show, I sometimes pick up the magazine in our practice waiting room between patients and often find, copious advertising aside, that it has some pretty interesting articles. I admit I followed her recent Eckhart Tolle series.
So I was interested to read this weekend of Robyn Okrant, a woman who has vowed to live life for a year according to the edicts of Oprah, both from the show, the magazine 'O' and the self-help available at the website.
Will she find bliss following Oprah's lifestyle suggestions?
Having viewed some of Oprah's selections of favourite things in the 'O' magazine, I'd like to think I could. Unfortunately, I don't think I could get Practical Man to allow the moths out of the family wallet to spring for them. *grin*
Interesting social experiment, no? See Robyn's blog here.

Oprah is a goddess. And you are right, like her or loathe her, you have to give her some kind of recognition for all that she does do.
Oprah is the only magazine I've subscribed to that wasn't on my kids' magazine drive list. Its THAT good. I like regular articles dedicated to book lovers, including celebrity recommends. I read a Colin Firth favorite, for example. I imagined that he and I sighed while reading the exact same paragraph.
I like her show, too. Not the celebrity promos. But so many of her feel good spots.
I remember once, I was heavy pregnant with the twins and home on maternity leave. My husband came home and I was in tears, bawling like a baby. "What's wrong?!" He thought I was in labor.
"It's just Oprah. Wahhhhh!"
Oprah forever has changed talk shows. At lest she has put the bar higher. She's done a lot of good. But I don't watch her anymore, I'm an Ellen fan.
You have an award at my blog! ;o)
